Roberto Matta
"Chilean architect, humanist, painter and poet. Considered the last representative of surrealism. Master of abstract expressionism, protagonist of the surrealist movement, friend and companion of Breton, Ernst, Duchamp and many more. He creates new perspectives for art, opening the floodgates of the unconscious and the metaphysics of being. More than a painter, Matta is one of the great Chilean artists of all time. "
Roberto Sebastián Antonio Matta Echaurren, better known as Matta, was born on November 11, 1911 in Santiago, Chile.
He studied architecture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and was a student at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Chile.
