Mario Toral Muñoz, painter, engraver and photographer. He was born in Santiago, Chile, on February 12, 1934.

With a restless and adventurous spirit, at the age of sixteen he set out to study art in Paris on his own. After leaving his home and traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, he collected money with which he traveled to Uruguay to enroll in the evening courses at the School of Fine Arts in Montevideo. In that country he received a teaching strongly marked by the constructivist current led by the teacher Joaquín Torres García.
