Andrés Vio
"Vio takes advantage of the plastic qualities of newspaper, making perforations, making rods that twist and interlace, which is arranged in a spiral to create two-dimensional shapes that are associated with collage and other volumetric compositions."
Born in June 1973, Santiago, Chile. In 1992 he entered the Finis Terrae University Faculty of Art to later graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a mention in painting in 1997, along with the artists Julen Birke and Rodrigo Canala. He was a student of Francisco de la Puente.
Vio first ventured into painting, later becoming interested in conceptual proposals linked to the subject of pictography, the communicative power of language and the relationship of the pictorial gesture with writing. To his works he incorporated printed texts on canvas, also showing an affinity with circular and spiral geometric designs.
