"The renowned Chilean painter Guillermo Lorca García-Huidobro is one of the young figures on the national artistic scene whose work not only attracts attention in our country, but also transcends borders."
Guillermo Lorca's work is influenced by late medieval and early Renaissance painting, and, on the other hand, makes a special nod towards the world of movies.
Lorca's work is constituted by a temporality that is expressed through characters, actions, places, times and intentions. Each of his paintings confronts us with suggestive, complex and disturbing images, composed of controlled spaces in which the characters and objects lie in perfect balance. However, in this context of formal control, it is difficult to determine what happens at the narrative level. Because Lorca appeals to mystery. And the truth is that, as spectators, we give ourselves with delight to this space of doubts. Somehow, doubt and indeterminacy are part of his aesthetic proposal.
